Did you survive the holidays? You’re almost there! I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to send this year out in style. Luckily, there are local shows to help me ring in the new year. Here’s a quick look at what’s happening in the local music landscape on New Year’s Eve.
The Band That Saved the World / SUNU / VCMN / DJ Proof
The Granada
They really nailed this one. I mean, if you’re into local bands who know how to party, this is it. The Granada stage is perfect for The Band That Saved the World because they just have such a massive lineup. We will be LIVING for the horn section at this one.

SUNU is also a premiere party band in Lawrence, and VCMN have that big festival energy. So when you head out and want to go dancing to live music, the Granada is where you’ll want to be. VCMN not only put out our favorite dance track of the year, but they’ve also been shooting to popularity on festival stages all Summer.
All these bands are experts at getting you to move your tush, so don’t expect to come and just be a fly on the wall at this one. We’re looking forward to seeing the everyone all gussied up on the vast Granada dance floor for this one.

Casket Lottery by Fally Afani
Casket Lottery / The Whiffs / So So Samaritan / Pimp Magic Guts
The Replay
If you’re not much of a dancer but still want to rage at a show, the Replay indoor show is where you’ll want to land. If you ONLY want to dance, you’ll land on the Replay patio with DJ Chance Romance.
This will be your rock and roll headquarters for the evening. Some of the hardest rockers in the scene will be taking the stage for this lineup, including heavy hitters Casket Lottery and The Whiffs. So So Samaritan, out of Illinois, will be hopping on the show, with newcomers Pimp Magic Guts opening the night (they’re a tough act to follow because they can get pretty rowdy).

Deadman Flats / KC Bear Fighters / Tonganoxie Split
The Bottleneck
The Bottleneck has always been the go-to for Bluegrass fans on NYE, and this year’s no different. They’re really punching it up with an all-star lineup featuring Deadman Flats, the ever lovable goofuses in Kansas City Bear Fighters, and beloved locals Tonganoxie Split.
Deadman Flats by Fally Afani
This show is stacked perfect, energy wise. Tonganoxie Split really pulls at our heartstrings sometimes with their beautiful music, KC Bear Fighters will punch it up a notch with their comedic energy, and Deadman Flats will bring the barn burners to round it out. This is one of those shows that will FLY by when you don’t keep track of time.

Coversmith / The Crumpletons
The Jazzhaus
Coversmith is one of Lawrence’s mainstays and has been around so long, we can’t really remember a time they weren’t delighting fans with their upbeat shows. This is one of the main cover bands in Lawrence (and Lawrence LOOOOOOVES cover bands), and they’ll be helping ring in the new year with an exciting set at the Jazzhaus featuring music spanning five decades. Prior to their show is a set from The Crumpletons, who specialize in 60’s covers.
