Holiday Lighting
Kick off the holiday season in the heart of the city!
The holidays come alive in Downtown Lawrence at the Holiday Lighting Ceremony and Santa Rescue on Friday, November 29, starting at 6 PM.
The ceremony will begin with a countdown and lighting of the Downtown lights. Afterward, look to the roof of Weaver's Department Store for a Santa sighting! No worries, Lawrence Douglas County Fire & Medical will be there with a ladder fire truck to rescue Santa from the rooftop. Holiday music will be broadcasted by KLWN leading up to the event.
Don't forget to have your kiddos write their letters to Santa beforehand; there will be a North Pole Post Office outpost tent collecting letters! Letter-writing supplies will be available, or you can download one of the templates from this page and bring it along. Don't forget to include a return address!
You can listen live to the entire event from our friends at KLWN FM 101.7 / AM1320 or stream it online.
This festive event is made possible by Lawrence Central Rotary and the Lawrence Kids Calendar.
