The craft beer scene is bustling in Lawrence. The very first legal brewery in the state of Kansas in over 100 years sits in Downtown Lawrence. The Free State Brewing Co. opened after a change in the state law in 1989 and has been setting the Kansas brewery bar high ever since! They sure started something good.
